Made for first skin.

Culmé is bamboo babywear in quiet, wearable neutrals — softer than cotton, naturally breathable, and cut for the years babies grow fastest.

Why bamboo

Four reasons it earns its place next to a newborn.

  1. 01

Softer than it has any right to be

Bamboo viscose is spun into a finer, rounder fibre than cotton, so the knit falls smooth against skin instead of catching on it.

  2. 02

    Breathable in real heat

The fibre moves moisture away and dries quickly — the difference between a settled nap and a damp, restless one in a humid climate.

  3. 03

    Gentle on reactive skin

A smooth fibre surface and low irritation profile make it a common choice for babies prone to eczema flare-ups and heat rash.

  4. 04

    A crop that keeps giving

Bamboo regrows from its own root system without replanting, needs no irrigation in most growing regions, and matures in a fraction of the time hardwood takes.

Our story

Named after the part of the plant that does the growing.

A culm is the tall, hollow stem of a bamboo plant — the part that shoots up fast, bends in weather, and doesn't break. It felt like the right name for clothes made for the fastest-growing, most weather-sensitive years of a person's life.

Culmé started with a simple frustration: babywear that either looked lovely and felt scratchy, or felt lovely and looked like hospital issue. We wanted a small, well-made wardrobe in colours that don't shout — pieces you'd happily photograph and happily hand down.

We're a new brand, working with a small mill and starting with three pieces rather than thirty. Everything we learn from the founding run goes straight into the next one.

Fewer things. Better cloth. Made to be passed on.
